Psychological Testing Services
NOW SCHEDULING FOR JANUARY 2025!
A clearly defined understanding of an individual’s learning abilities, intellect, psychological symptoms, and cognitive functioning can be extremely helpful in treatment. Psychological testing can be useful in determining specific conditions and diagnoses, for both children and for adults. Weston Psychiatric offers testing services to provide quantitative neurobehavioral assessment for individuals.
Diagnostic Psychological Evaluation
Weston Psychiatric provides confidential, comprehensive psychological evaluations. Our psychologists and testing team evaluate patients for learning, developmental, and mental health conditions. Common areas of evaluation include: Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Disorders, specific psychological disorders, developmental disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and memory screening. Weston Psychiatric performs psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults.
Psychological Evaluation Process
The process of evaluation begins with a clinical interview conducted by a psychologist. For children, both the child and parent(s)/guardian(s) will be interviewed. From this interview, the psychologist can determine areas of testing that would benefit the patient. Psychological evaluations involve a series of assessments aimed to identify areas of strengths and deficits in learning, cognitive functioning, and psychological functioning, and to improve diagnostic accuracy.
The testing phase typically includes a combination of in-person or computer-based assessments and questionnaires. For children’s psychological evaluations, parents/guardians and teachers will often be asked to complete questionnaires about the patient. These questionnaires supplement the testing that is completed directly with the child. Once the testing protocols are complete, a psychologist interprets the results and provides both a written report and a feedback session. The report and feedback provide an understanding of the testing outcomes and treatment recommendations.
Holistic Mental Health Treatment Plans
After completing a full psychological evaluation, the psychologist works with the patient (and when applicable, the patient’s parents, guardians, teachers, spouse/partner) to incorporate the results and recommendations into the patient’s personalized care plan for continuity of care.
Referrals for Psychological Evaluation
For self-pay patients seeking psychological testing for themselves or their child, referrals are welcome, but are not required. Some insurance plans require pre-authorization for psychological evaluations. Weston Psychiatric psychologists are in-network providers for multiple health insurance plans. Patients may also qualify for out-of-network provider coverage. Weston Psychiatric’s intake coordinator can verify benefits and obtain any necessary authorization for mental health treatment.
