When traditional therapies for depression don’t seem to be working, it’s difficult to remain hopeful. Thankfully, Weston Psychiatric offers new hope – a groundbreaking mental health treatment, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) service. Weston Psychiatric is the first and only clinic in Central Wisconsin to offer this life-changing TMS service.

FDA-Approved Treatment for Depression

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is a non-invasive treatment developed for individuals struggling with depression who have not responded well to antidepressant medication or psychotherapy. Although new to Central Wisconsin, TMS treatment has been FDA-approved since 2008 following rigorous clinical research. Clinical studies show that many patients with depression see significant, long-term improvement.

Non-Invasive Therapy for Mental Illness

In TMS therapy, a special magnetic coil is carefully placed over a specific site of the head, usually towards the front. The coil emits a light stimulation aimed at specific areas within the brain which feels like a tapping sensation. The stimulation helps to reconnect the neural pathways involved in depression. Weston Psychiatric typically schedules TMS sessions five times a week for 30-36 sessions over the course of 6-9 weeks. Each session lasts 20-40 minutes. TMS therapy is widely accepted by health insurance companies.
